The pharmacy owners and medicine traders o the port city observed strike protesting the harassment by RAB and Drug administration yesterday.
About two thousand five hundred pharmacy owners joined the strike closing their pharmacies across the city leave miseries of the patients either in hospital or home . But a number of pharmacies kept out of the purview of strike in Chittagong Medical college hospital area , sources said.
General Secretary of Bangladesh Chemists and Druggist Association, Chittagong unit Ashish Achariya told that a sudden mobile court was conducted with joint participation of RAB and drug administration at Bahaddrhat area on Sunday from 2 pm to 9 pm where realized penalty of Tk.17 lakh from the pharmacies instantly .
Following the penalty and harassment of the traders and pharmacies by the law enforcers, the association decided to protest their harassment through observing strike and decided to close their shops for next 24 hours. But in consideration of crucial patients in different hospitals and clinics, a few numbers o f pharmacies will remain open in medical college area , sources said.
