Petrol pump owners call off strike in Sylhet

The strike called by the Petrol pump owners in Sylhet has been called off on Saturday getting assurance from the deputy commissioner.
Jobayer Ahmed Chowdhury, President of the Sylhet divisional committee of the Bangladesh Petroleum Dealers, Distributors Agents and Petrol Pump Owners Association, confirmed the matter.
He said, deputy commissioner has assured that he will solve the local problems himself. He would discuss the countrywide demands with the proper authorities.
Incidentally, the Bangladesh Petroleum Dealers, Distributors, Agents and Petrol Pump Owners Association went on strike from December 26 after the mobile court fined them.
The strike was called off after a meeting convened at the Sylhet Deputy Commissioner’s Office on Saturday (December 26th) at noon. The meeting was presided by Sylhet Deputy Commissioner M Kazi Emdadul Islam and was attended by Sylhet Metropolitan Awami League’s promising president Muktijoddha Masuk Uddin Ahmed, Sylhet District Awami League’s general secretary Nasir Uddin Khan and others.
Earlier, Bangladesh Petroleum Dealers, Distributors Agents and Petrol Pump Owners Association Sylhet called a strike protesting punishment. Their six-point includes the following demands.
