Permission for BNP rally depends on situation: Asad

UNB, Dhaka :State Minister for Home Affairs Asaduzzman Khan on Friday said BNP will not be given permission for holding its planned January-5 rally if there is any apprehension of subversive acts.”There’s still time for giving the permission… we’re reviewing the situation,” he told reporters after inaugurating the four-day ‘8th Hajj and Umrah Fair-2015’ at Bangabandhu International Conference Centre in the city.Hajj Agencies Association of Bangladesh (Haab) organised the fair.The state minister said they may consider giving permission for the rally if they can be sure there will be no subversive act over the rally. Earlier, addressing the function, Asaduzzaman said initiatives will be taken to open separate desks to make Machine Readable Passports (MRPs) for the Hajj pilgrims. “Besides, steps will be taken so that the passport office concerned can get police clearance quickly.”Turning to some allegations against a section of hajj agencies, he said it is not acceptable that Haab will earn bad name for the misdeeds of a few hajj agencies, and urged its leaders to remain alert in this regard.Chaired by Haab president Md Ibrahim Bahar, the inauguration ceremony was addressed, among others, by chairman of the Standing Committee on Religious Ministry Bazlul Haque Harun and Religious Affairs Secretary Chowdhury Md Babul Hasan.
