Election Commissioner Rafiqual Islam has urged the election-related officials to perform election duty without any fear and pressure.
“We want to organize fair election. Actually, the environment of fair election depends on the legislatures and executive magistrates,” he made the comments as a chief guest at an opening function of a three-day training
workshop at Bagerhat on Friday. He added, “The responsible people at the center should not do anything controversial by being overly enthusiastic or self-motivated. The Election Commission will not take responsibility for violating the rules.”
Regional Election Officer and Returning Officer of the by-election (Bagerhat-4) Eunuch Ali presided over the function while Director General of the Election Training Institute Nuruzzaman Talukder, Deputy Commissioner of Bagerhat Mamunur Rashid and Superintendent of Police Pankaj Chandra Roy attended it as the specialist guests.
The training programme is being attended by 1,400 officers.
Mentionable, bye-election at Bagerhat- 1 constituency is expected to be held on March 25.
Awami League nominated advocate Amirul Alam Milon and Jatiya Party’s Sajan Kumar Mistry are contesting in this constituency.
