State Minister for Foreign Affairs Shahriar Alam, MP, has underscored the need for people’s participation in formulating annual budget of pourasabha for its successful implementation.
He also urged the pourasabha mayor and others officials and staff concerned to perform their duties with utmost sincerity and honesty for fulfilling the hopes and aspiration of the public in general.
The state minister was addressing a post-budget public gathering in Arani Pouarasabha under Bagha Upazila of the district yesterday evening as chief guest.
On the occasion, he also inaugurated the ‘One Stop Service Center’ of the pourasabha.
Earlier, the Arani Pourasabha has announced a budget of Taka 15 crore for the next 2014-15 fiscal giving highest priority to the education and sanitation sectors.
“We have given the highest priority to the sectors having enormous potentials in the pourasabha,” said Poura Mayor Nazrul Islam while presenting the budget at its conference hall.
Shahriar Alam viewed that budget formulation and implementation is the precondition to strengthen the local government institutions.
