Speakers at an anti-corruption planning meeting have stressed for participation of the people from all walks in life in launching vigorous social movement for preventing corruption from the society.
The Ward No-4 unit of the Community Policing Forum of Mominpur union under Sadar upazila organised the meeting on Monday afternoon with the assistance of RDRS Bangladesh, a reputed NGO, at Chandkuthi Government Primary School in the district.
The meeting was arranged under the Justice Reform and Corruption Prevention (JRCP) Project being implemented with German Development Cooperation (GIZ) funding by the NGO here with the assistance of the Ministry of Law, Justice and Parliamentary Affairs.
With President of Ward No-4 unit of the Community Policing Forum of
Mominpur union Shahinur Islam Shahin in the chair, Assistant Sub-inspector (ASI) of Kotwali Thana Rezaul Karim attended the meeting as the chief guest.
Joint Secretary of the Community Policing Forum Mrs. Ayesha Begum, its Advisers Majibar Rahman, Mahbub Alam, addressed the meeting as the special guests.
Upazila Manager of the JRCP Project of RDRS Bangladesh Tahmina Akhter discussed on the anti-corruption and community policing activities and draft annual action plan on anti-corruption activities to be conducted in the area this year.
Filed Facilitator of the JRCP Project of RDRS Bangladesh Azim Ali moderated the meeting participated by members of the Community Policing Forum, local community leaders, civil society members and elite.
President of the Community Policing Forum Shahinur Islam Shahin narrated the present situation on child marriage, gambling, mugging, drug abuse and other social crimes in the area and stressed for preventing those through coordinated efforts of all.
Later, he presented a draft annual action plan in the meeting on conducting anti-corruption activities by Ward No-4 unit of Chandanpat union unit of Community Policing Forum this year and it was endorsed after elaborate discussion.
The speakers highly appreciated the anti-corruption activities conducted last year by Ward No-4 unit of Mominpur union unit of Community Policing Forum in preventing corruption through creating mass public awareness against corruption.
In his speech, the chief guest stressed for eradicating child marriage and other social crimes with active police-people cooperation and stressed for launching social movement to prevent corruption to accelerate the pace of ongoing national development.
