People suffering due to bad condition of Sylhet roads

Water-logging has now become a common feature in Sylhet city and several upazilas in Sylhet district. Most of the important roads of the city have been inundated by the rain water causing immense sufferings to the city dwellers.
The rain in the last three months has made most roads unusable.
Patients and elderly people suffer most for bumpy ride as there are numerous potholes, ditches on roads. Currently, condition of Murar bazar to Balagonj is in deplorable condition. Rickshaw-pullers and taxi-drivers overcharge the passengers for rides through road that remains waterlogged.
A large number of heavy vehicles use these roads till midnight. Several potholes and craters have developed on roads due to regular movement of heavy vehicles like trucks loaded with bricks, sands and concrete, buses, lorries, vans, pick-up vans etc. The Sylhet-Companigonj road is also in bad shape. CNG auto-rickshaws, rickshaws, battery driven rickshaws cannot ply on the main road due to water-logging. Most of the roads of the city have become unfit for vehicular traffic and pedestrian. Sub-divisional engineer of Roads and Highways Department said damaged roads of Sylhet district would be repaired very soon.
