Several hundred people including women and children staged demonstrations on Jashore-Dhaka highway demanding releif.
Getting no food and relief materials from the local public representatives several hundred people took to the street at Bahadurpur point of the highway and chanted slogans demanding relief items.
The demonstrators said they are confined to their respective homes for over one month due to shutdown following the outbreak of coronavirus and they have become unemployed.
They said they did not get any food assistance from the government.
On information, police and army personnel went to the spot and heard their demand.
The left the place when police and revenue deputy collector (RDC) KM Abu Naushad, who was present there, assured the demonstrators of providing food assistance after making a list as soon as possible .
