People continued to return to the Dhaka city on Wednesday after Eid vacation and some of them claimed lack of enough transports and charging of extra fares on their way.
With the Eid vacation drawing an end on Saturday, Dhaka residents have started coming back to the city after celebrating the Eid-ul-Fitr with their dearest ones from their village homes.
Bus, launch terminals and railway stations witnessed crowds of inhabitants coming back to capital from their home districts; however the pressure of the passenger is still low.
Mahmudul hasan, who was returning from Faridpur to Dhaka, told the media that it took fewer time to reach Dhaka as the highways are comparatively free of traffic.
“No traffic jam was in the route, even the roads of Dhaka are still free,” he added.
Office-Staffs began attending for both Government and Private sectors. People were seen exchanging Eid greetings on the first working day after the vacation.
Most of them are still in holiday mood, the city seemed free from traffic jams four days after Eid on Wednesday and those who chose not to head out of the city for Eid celebration had a few days of respite from the common crowd, noise and pollution.
Abrar Fiaz from Dhanmondi enjoyed the short vacation of only three days by roaming around the city with his Family and friends.
“We get the chance to enjoy the crowd-free and traffic-free Dhaka only during the Eid Vacations. So we determined to celebrate the festival visiting different places of the city”, he said.
On the other hand, the Dhaka is expected to gain its old form from next Saturday while the pressure of the passengers returning back to Dhaka is expected to start mounting from friday night.
Road Transport and Bridges Minister Obaidul Quader on Monday claimed the journey of homebound people was comfortable because the government took coordinated and planned effective initiatives ahead of Eid.
“The number of road crashes and loss of lives is less than the previous years,” he said.
The minister also claimed that people reached Chittagong from Dhaka ahead of Eid within four hours.
