‘People getting benefits from digital services’

Science and Technology Minister Yafesh Osman said the people are getting benefits from digital services as the government has implemented massive ICT-based programes to transform Bangladesh into an economically developed country.
“Digital Bangladesh is not merely a dream…. Now it becomes a reality as digitization process is gradually visible to the people,” he said this on the ninth instant while speaking at a roundtable on “Skill for coming days and fourth industrial revolution” at the Bangabandhu International Conference Centre (BICC) in the city.
Access to Information Programme of Prime Minister’s Office (PMO) organized the roundtable.
Secretary of Secondary and Higher Secondary Education Md Sohrab Hossain and Secretary of Technical and Madrasa Education Division Md Alamgir, among others, addressed the function with Director General of Bureau of Manpower, Employment and Training(BMET) Md Selim Reza in the chair.
Yafesh said Bangladesh witnessed a remarkable progress in the field of ICT as the present government has implemented massive projects to supplement the efforts of building a Digital Bangladesh by 2021.
He said rural people are now getting many ICT-based public services as a result of massive digitization campaign, which ultimately lessens cost, hassle and time of service seekers.
The minister said achievements in the ICT sector has been lauded internationally as the country won many prestigious awards as part of recognition for developing outstanding innovative ideas and initiatives.
