The election for the executive committee 2015-18 of PEN International’s Bangladesh Centre (PENIBC), a global association of the writers, was held on Thursday at a local restaurant of Gulshan area in the capital. The committee will be responsible to look after the association for next three years.
According to PENIBC, fiction writer Farida Hossain was re-elected as President and Dr Sayeda Aireen Jaman was elected as General Secretary. Masud Ahmed, Sakib Lohani and Ali Ahmed were elected as Vice-president while Md Mohi Uddin and Lovely Bashar were elected as Join-secretary of the association.
Besides, Jamal Ahmed, Shahida Khatun, Md Rafique, Lipi Monowar, Dr. Mustafizur Rahman and Anjuman Ara Shilpi were elected as Executive Members of the association for next three years.
Earlier, the 42nd Annual General Meeting was also held with Farida Hossain, noted fiction writer, in the chair.
In the meeting six important committees were formed to enhance the activities of Bangladesh PEN. Secretary of these committees are Prof Dr Nashid Kamal, Ali Neyamat, Prof Dr Md Abu Zafor, Anis Mohammad, Ahmed Momtaz and Farida Moni Shahidullah.
Nevertheless, the members and the well wishers of the association, among others, were also present.
