A pedestrian named Musa Sowdagar was crushed to death by a running passenger bus in Baradighi area of Hajhazari upazila. The agitated crowd blocked the Chittagong-Rangamati highway for several hours.
Later, with the assurance of the police, the blockade was lifted and the traffic became normal.
According to local sources, Musa Sowdagar, a resident of Uttar Madarsha area, was killed on the spot when he was crushed by the wheel of a reckless speeding bus at around 7 am yesterday.
A large number of vehicles on the Chittagong-Khagrachhari -Rangamati routes were blocked when the agitated crowd barricaded. Most of the pasengers reach their destinations on foot after a few kilometers. At the scene, the crowd stopped the bus responsible for the accident, but the driver and his accomplice escaped from the spot instantly.
Police have recovered the body of the deceased.Mentionable that Md Didarul Alam Bulu was killed in a road accident in the same area three days ago. Locals staged a sit-in on Monday last to protest the incident.
