The overall Price-to-Earnings (PE) ratio of the country’s main stock exchange, the Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE), rose by 2 per cent in the outgoing week.
The PE ratio of the DSE was at 13.03 points at the beginning of the week, which is at 13.30 points at the end of the week. In other words, the PE ratio has increased by 0.27 points or 2.07 per cent during the week.
At the end of the week, the PE ratio of the banking sector stands at 7.96 points, IT sector at 23.05 points, textile at 17.41 points, pharmaceuticals and chemicals at 12.59 points, engineering at 17.35 points, insurance at 20.49 points, food at 17.62 points, leather at (-) 12.39 points, cement at 23.36 points, power and energy at 10.11 points, financial at 45.93 points, travel and leisure at 158.32 points, paper at 58.68 points, telecommunications at 12.24 points, services and housing at 13.76 points, ceramic at 117.84 points, jute at (-) 34.23 points, and finally, the miscellaneous sector settles at 39.64 points.
