PDB owes Tk 132 cr to govt bodies

Govt bodies and the autonomous organizations are not regularly paying power bbills leaving stands outstanding about Tk.132 cr.
 Due to large outstanding bills, the Power Development Board are facing acute financial crisis to run the Chittagong based offices. According sources of PDB sources the outstanding power bills stands at Tk.131.62 cr upto December 2014 which may go up to Tk.150 cr if calculated upto March.
 In fact, lack ofbudget provision or fund crisis, these govt agencies arenot paying power bills regularly, a reliable sources said. Additional Director of PDB (south circle) Nurul Alam told that PDB in the meantime issued notices to the defaulters to clear their dues by june next. He further said, power bill-share being regularly paying by the private consumers but the govt agencies not paying regularly.
 Due to non payment of power bill in due time, the interest and surcharge are including with the current bills including arrears. PDB sources said , Chittagong city corporation is the highest defaulter of electric bills with Tk.56 cr 27 lakh 55 thousand . While contacted Chief Executive officer of City Corporation . Ali Ahmed said lack of fund , they could not pay the arrear bills. The highest defaulter is DisasterManagement and Relief Department with Tk.21 cr arrear bills. The other defaulters of the power bills are Jute Mills Corporation(Tk.11.9 cr), Religious Ministry (Tk.9.63 cr), Public Health Engineering (Tk.5.9 cr) , Textile Mills corporation(Tk.3.45 cr), Family Planning Department(Tk.3.9 cr) , Police Department (Tk.2.86cr) , Bangladesh Railway(Tk. 2.42 cr) and CWASA (Tk.2.41 cr).
