Deceased Basu Chakma, 40, was shot dead around 7:00pm inside his house in Rangamati’s Baghaichhari Upazila on Friday.
He was an activist of Parbatya Chattagram Jana Samhati Samity (PCJSS-MN Larma).
Unidentified miscreants stormed into his house and shot him dead, Md Masud, a sub-inspector at Baghaichhari Police Station, said. “A pipe gun has been found at the spot.”
Last month, just a week before the election, two people were shot dead
under broad daylight in an attack on an election camp of United People’s Democratic Front (UPDF).
Back in early November, another UPDF men was shot dead in Khagrachhari’s Dighinala.
Last year, 41 people were murdered due to inter-party conflicts between UPDF, UPDF democratic faction and Jana Sanghati Samiti (JSS-MN Larma) in the district.
Of the victims, 15 belonged to the UPDF, 15 to the JSS-MN Larma and three to the UPDF democratic faction. Five others were common people.
