Police Bureau of Investigation (PBI) on Tuesday said that their investigation failed to find any involvement of accused Sub-Inspector Khairul Alam with the rape of a housewife in Sharsha Upazila in 2019.
In a press conference at PBI office Additional Police Superintendent (ASP) MKH Jahangir Hossain disclosed the findings.
“Primarily, the involvement of sub-inspector Khairul was not proved,” he said.
They arrested three accused in the case whose DNA tests have been done and among them one confessed to his crime before the court, he added.

personally known to the victim, ASP said.
On September 2, 2019 the victim, a mother of two was allegedly raped by SI Khairul Alam and police informer Quamruzzaman alias Quamrul in Laxmanpur area of Sharsha Upazila. On September 4, 2019, three men identified as Quamrul Islam, a police informer, Omar Ali and Abdul Latif, all belonging to the upazila of Sharsha, were arrested in the case
The victim filed the case a day earlier (September 3) accusing four men including the SI.
According to the case statement, Quamrul and three others went to the victim’s home located in Laxmanpur village in the upazila on September 2 night and raped her.
Later, the case was transferred to PBI.
