Construction of the four-lane “Sheikh Hasina Road” has been completed, connecting Payra port with Patuakhali-Kuakata highway.
The 5.2km long and 24 metre wide road has already opened to traffic, our Patuakhali correspondent reports.
For constructing the road, 58 acres of land was acquired from Payra port to Rajopara, connecting Kuakata-Dhaka highway.
Construction firm MM Builders built the road under the supervision of Bangladesh Navy at the cost of Tk 305 crore from the port’s own fund, said Md Zakirul Islam, administrative officer of the Payra port Authority.
The road is expected to speed up the unloading of goods at the port.
