UNB, Dhaka :The subscribers, failing to register their SIM cards through biometric method by May 31 midnight, will have to pay Tk 150-200 to activate their blocked SIM cards.To this end, the Bangladesh Telecommunication Regulatory Commission (BTRC) sent a directive to all telephone operators of the country on Monday, a day before the deadline for SIM re-registrationthrough biometric method expires on Tuesday. BTRC Secretary Sarwar Alam told UNB that the subscribers, who are yet to register, will have to unblock the SIM cards verifying their identity as per BTRC rules and regulations.The SIMs, which still remained unregistered, will be deactivated after 12am on Tuesday without any warning and the users would not be able to activate them registering these paying Tk 150-200 within the next 18 months.As per the BRTC rules, if any SIM remains continuously deactivated for 18 months or 540 days, the subscriber will lose its ownership. When 15 months or 450 days will elapse, the mobile operator concerned can publish a notification requesting its holder to activate it within the next 90 days.
