Staff Reporter :
Dhaka North City Corporation on Wednesday evicted concrete barricades from the pavement in front of the Australian High Commission at Gulshan in the city.
The city corporation sent letters to some embassies and missions on February 28 to remove all barriers from the pavements in front of those foreign missions since the High Court had ordered it.
The missions constructed those concrete blocks and other barricades for
their security reasons. But those created obstacles also for the people to use the pavement.
In this situation, Saudi Arabia, Pakistan, Russia and Italy embassies removed those barricades from in front of their pavements.
The DNCC Mayor Annisul Huq recently talked with the Australian High Commissioner and other officials in this regards. According to the decisions taken in those meetings the DNCC removed the barricades while the high commission will remove the rest of its iron poles and other obstacles from south and rear sides of the mission.
The DNCC Chief Executive Officer Md. Mesbahul Islam and Chief Engineer Md. Sayeed Anwarul Islam, among others, were present.
