Local administration on Sunday put the district under lockdown to prevent the transmission of coronavirus or COVID-19.
Deputy Commissioner Md Motiul Islam Chowdhury announced the decision this in a press statement.
The lockdown was imposed as the infection rate of COVID-19 increased in neighbouring Barishal and Barguna districts, he said.
No one will be allowed to enter or leave the district while movement of all kinds of vehicles will remain suspended, he added.
So far, three people were found infectedwith the COVID-19 in the district while two of them died.
Meanwhile, seven more people died from coronavirus in Bangladesh in the last 24 hours on Sunday, taking the death toll in the country to 91.
Besides, a record number of 312 people tested positive for coronavirus during the period, taking the number of such cases in the country to 2,456.
