Law, Justice and Parliamentary Affairs Minister Anisul Huq said patriotism was the base of Father of Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman’s ideology.
“The foundation of Father of Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman’s ideology was patriotism. He deeply loved his people. Now it is our duty to show love towards him,” he said.
He said these on Tuesday while addressing a discussion organized by Bangladesh Muslim Nikah Registrar Kalyan Samity in the city as the chief guest on the occasion of the 47th martyrdom anniversary of Father of Nation.
Bangabandhu possessed all human qualities, Anisul said, adding that as a boy, he used to give his own clothes to his poor classmates.
Bangabandhu was the only Bangalee politician who did not compromise with the then military rulers of Pakistan, he said, adding that he (Bangabandhu) did not run away after declaring the independence of the country, reports BSS.
“That is why seven and a half crore Bangalees joined the liberation war,” he added.
With Bangladesh Muslim Nikah Registrar Kalyan Samity President Kazi Md Mamunur Rashid in the chair, the discussion was addressed, among others, by Secretary of the Law and Justice Division Md Golam Sarwar and Inspector General of Registration (IGR) Shahidul Alam Jhinuk.
Other speakers discussed the ideals, works and life of Bangabandhu at the event conducted by Secretary General of the Samity Hafez Sagar Ahmed Shaheen.
A special prayer was also offered seeking the eternal peace of the departed souls of Bangabandhu’s family members who were brutally assassinated on August 15, 1975.
