Interns at Rangpur Medical College Hospital went on a strike over an altercation with a staff member of the hospital.
The interns began the strike in the morning today following an altercation with a staff of the hospital over discharging a patient on Thursday night.
According to sources, a grade-four employee went to an on-duty intern to take his signature on a discharge letter on Thursday noon, the daily reports.
When the intern said that he was busy, an altercation took place between them. Intern Doctors Parishad President Sanaul Huda said that they did not want to go on strike but such incident often occurs in the hospital and so they feel insecure.

Rangpur Medical College Hospital acting director Rustom Ali said that they were not informed when the interns went on strike.

A discussion is going on with the intern doctors over joining their work, he added.
