Covid situation deteriorating: Patients’ pressure mounts at DMCH

The number of patients infected with coronavirus at Dhaka Medical College (DMC) Hospital is increasing every day. Among them, there are many who have already been vaccinated.
Most of the admitted patients are from outside the capital city, the medical sources said.
Not only corona patients, number of others patients are also increasing in the hospital.
According to the sources, colds, Asphyxia, allergies, skin diseases and other winter related diseases are on the rise due to prevailing cold weather.
As a result, the crowd of patients has increased at various units and department of the hospital.
 On Monday, a crowd of patients was seen visiting the Outpatient Department of Dhaka Medical College & Hospital (DMCH) for getting treatment.
Besides, it was also seen on the spot that hundreds of patients were receiving treatment on the floors and corridors of the DMCH, which seemed painful, unhealthy and unhygienic for the patients. Visiting the corona unit of the hospital, it was learned that 19 patients were admitted from morning to afternoon on Sunday (January 23). Five of them were from Dhaka.The remaining 14 were from outside of Dhaka.
Some of them are corona positive, and others have problems with corona symptoms.
According to hospital estimates, 12 people have died in corona unit of the hospital in the past month. On January 21 and 22, five people died in two days. Among the deceased, three of them had also been vaccinated.
At the beginning of January, 162 patients were admitted in the Corona unit. Of these, 32 were corona positive. On January 22, the number of admissions stood at 350, of which 174 were corona positive.
