Patient allegedly died of wrong treatment in a Harinakundu clinic

A patient was died of allegedly by wrong treatment of the physician at a private clinic in Harinakundu upazila head quarters on Saturday. The victim was identified as Polly Khatun, 22, wife of Abul Kalam alias Kalam of Parfalsi village of the upazila.
The relatives of the deceased said, Polly was admitted to Shikha Clinic in Harinakundu for a scissorian operation on Friday. The attending physician of the clinic, also a medical officer of Harinakundu upazila health complex Dr. Alamgir Hossain conducted the operation on Friday night.
Within a few hours when Polly regained her sense feeling uneasy, the physician referred her to Kushtia medical college hospital in a critical state. Polly died there at about 8.00 in the morning of Saturday where she was undergoing treatment.
Abul Kalam, husband of Polly Khatun alleged, Polly had died of wrong treatment in the clinic as the physician was no so skill in conducting operation. Further, the clinic was not suitable for conducting this sort of operation of the pregnant mothers.
Mohammad Saifuzzaman, a member of the upazila health service committee in Harinakundu when contacted said, he had sent complaint to the civil surgeon in Jhenaidah. He also suggested the guardians could file case against the physician as this sort of accidents have been taking place by the physician sparked reaction among the people, he said.
Civil surgeon of Jhenaidah Dr. Abdus Salam when contacted said, he was informed that a labaour patient had died in Kushtia medical college hospital when she was referred from a private clinic in Harinakundu. He will take steps against the physician after an investigation, the civil surgeon said.
In the other hand the officer in charge of Harinakundu police station Mahatab Uddin said, the police might take steps when they could receive complaint from the relatives of the deceased.
