Ctg beach management committee formed: Patenga, Parki to be turned into modern tourist spots

Ministry of Civil Aviation and Tourism has started activities for development of tourism industry in Chittagong.
 A reliable sources said all beaches in Chittagong will be developed gradually but in first phase, Patenga and Parki beach will come under this modernization plan through a powerful management committee.
 In order to affect this planning , a 21-member Chittagong Beach Management Committee(CBMC) was constituted headed by Deputy Commissioner of Chittagong Mesbahuddin Ahmed.
The committee will finalise the planning to develop these two beaches through convening a meeting by this month.
President of CBMC and DC, Chittagong told The New Nation that a master plan is undertaken aimed at developing the perspective tourism industry through modernization of sea beaches and primarily Patenga and Parki will be developed .
He told that directives have already been received from the concerned ministry to constitute CBMC after Coxsbazar beach committee. He further told that a meeting in connection will be arranged by this month to exchange views with the elite of the concerned beach areas and the local elected representatives.
 DC further told that following a resolution of a meeting of district administration held on June 4 last, a proposal for constituting CBMC with 34-members consists of divisional and district administration officials, UZ chairman, city corporation, police, Navy, Coast Guards, fire services and local representatives were forwarded to the concerned ministry on August 6 last.
District administration sources said, concerned ministry asked to form a 21-member CBMC headed by DC and a representative from Bangladesh Parjatan Corporation as member-secretary.
Mentionable that a beach development project of Tk.222 cr for Parki beach is lying with the ECNEC for approval, sources said.
