Airport authorities arrested a passenger at Shah Amanat International Airport here on Tuesday morning for carrying 540 Yaba pills and 200 gram hemp.
The arrestee is Jamir Uddin, hailing from Hathazari upazila and a passenger of Abu Dhabi-bound Biman Bangladesh Airlines.
Wing commander ABM Sarwar-e-Zaman, manager of the airport, said that the drugs were concealed inside Jamir’s shoes in a unique way and those were detected during scanning.
Besides, Customs officials at Chattogram Airport detained a Dubai-bound passenger for carrying 15kg hemp concealing in a mattress on Monday morning.The detainee Md Rubel, hailing from Brahmanbaria district, was scheduled to travel by a flight of Fly Dubai Airlines, said Sarwari Alam, station manager of the airport.
The customs officials challenged him for his suspicious activities at the luggage screening point, he said.Later, they recovered the hemp hidden inside a mattress.The detainee was handed over to Patenga Police Station.
