Passenger launches to be used as isolation centres

State Minister for Shipping Khalid Mahmood Chowdhury has said that passenger launches are ready to be used as ‘isolation centers with treatment facilities to prevent and combat coronavirus spread.
Launch owners, he said, have given their consent, as they are willing to do it.
Talking to reporters after a view-exchange meeting with launch owners on Saturday, Khalid added that necessary measures would be arranged in this regard after discussion with the Health Ministry.
If the isolation centers are set up in launches, it would help provide treatment to the people of coastal areas if they get infected with coronavirus.
Bangladesh has so far confirmed eight deaths from the coronavirus, which is ravaging the entire world.
A total of 70 cases of Covid-19 have been reported in the country till Saturday.
Of those affected, 30 have already made recovery and 32 patients are currently under treatment.
In the past 24 hours, 553 samples were tested and nine cases of coronavirus detected in the country.
