Pass rate has increased but GPA-5 rate has decreased in Barisal Board and female examinees have done better than male in the result of Higher Secondary Examination- 2018 under Barisal Education Board published on Thursday.
The result declared by Prof Md Anwerul Azim, Controller of Examinations of BEB, at his office declaring the result said that most of the failed examinees had bad result in English subject.
According to the declared result of HSC 2018, this year 62,173 examinees appeared from 333 colleges under 116 centers of BEB.
Out them 43,861 (70.55 percent) passed with 670 GPA-5 grade.
Last year the pass rate of BEB was 70.13 percent with 787 GPA-5 grade.
This year 23,070 (76 percent) out of 30356 appeared female examinees passed with 370 in GPA-5 grade passed HSC from BEB.
On other hand, 20,791 (65.35 percent) out of 31,817 male examinees passed HSC from BEB with 300 GPA-5 grade.
According to the BEB sources, Barishal district done better with 76.30 percent pass rate and 423 GPA-5 grade and result of Patuakhali district with 61.22 percent pass rate and 43 GPA-5 grade was worst among the six district of the division.
Examinees of Science and Home Economics group scored the highest 75.62 pass rate with 436 GPA-5 grade, while the Humanitise and Islamic Studies group done worst with 66.48 percent pass rate with 139 GPA-5 grade in group-wise result of HSC 2018 of BEB.
Besides, examinees of Business Studies group with 74.81 percent pass rate with 95 GPA-5 grade, BEB sources said.
Prof Md. Anwerul Azim, Controller of Examinations of BEB, informed that this year 74 examinees including 19 females had been expelled for adopting unfair means in HSC examination.
None of total 18 examinees was passed from two institutions including Satla Ideal College of Wazirpur Barishal and Poshurbunia Islamia Mohila College of Patuakhali, while 5 institutions including Barisal Cadet College scored 100 percent pass rate, the CE of BEB added.
