Entertainment Desk :Parveen Sultana (known by her stage name Diti), was one of the versatile film and television actresses. She died on Sunday afternoon at a city hospital. She was 51. She left behind a daughter, Lamia Chowdhury, and a son, Shafayet Chowdhury. Diti won the National Film Award for Best Actress in a Supporting Role in 1987 for her performance in movie Swami Stri. Diti was a popular film actress from Bangladeshi film industry known as Dhallywood. She was born on March 31 in 1965 in Narayanganj. She made her acting debut in the film Dak Diye Jai in the year 1984. She has received many awards and acclamations. This most popular Dhallywood actress also started her career as a director. She started her directing carrier with the Bengali TV drama titled Breaking News. Diti tied the nuptial knot with actor Sohel Chowdhury who later was killed from gun shots in 1998. Diti was diagnosed with brain cancer on July 25 last year.
