Obaidul warns: Party discipline breakers to face action

Ruling Awami League General Secretary and Road, Transport and Bridges Minister Obaidul Quader on Sunday warned of strong action against those of the AL leaders who would break party discipline.
“The Executive committee of AL will take disciplinary action against those leaders who would work against party interest. The committee will sit on April 12. Prime Minister and the Party President Sheikh Hasina will preside at the meeting,” said the minister.
He said it after a meeting with the secretaries of the party’s central committee at the party President’s Dhanmondi office.
Obaidul Quader said that the meeting discussed about disorderliness of some leaders and workers and other organisational weakness of the party.
 “We have discussed about the insiders’ role which did not favour the party. We discussed about the Sunamgonj by polls and the Comilla City Corporation election to decide the next course of action. We have prepared some recommendations to submit to the party chief. It will be discussed in the executive committee meeting for action as deems fit, he said.
Obaidul Quader said, AL will organise a rally on April 14 to mark ‘Pahela Boishakh’- the first day of the Bangla new year. The rally will start from the Bahadur Shah Park at Sadarghat to reach the party’s central office on the Bangabandhu Avenue.
The meeting also decided to observe the historic Mujib Nagar Day on April 17.
AL Joint-General Secretaries Mahbub Alam Hanif and Abdur Rahman, Organising Secretaries Abu Sayeed Al Mahmud, Khalid Mahmud Chowdhury and Enamul Haque Shamim, central leaders Abdus Subhan Golap, Faridunnahar Laily, Habibur Rahman Siraj, Shamsunnahar Chapa and Delwar Hossain, among others, were present.
