Speakers at a pre-iftar view-sharing meeting with journalists said importance should be given on more peoples involvement in the government’s success achievement and development thinking.
They viewed the journalists have a vital role towards supplementing the government’s efforts to reach the success messages to the grassroots’ people properly as they are the key-players in this regard.
District Information Office (DIO), Rajshahi organized the meeting yesterday as part of its special campaign programme highlighting the field level peoples-participatory advocacy meeting, discussion, colourful rally, musical and film shows, women gathering and courtyard meeting.
Deputy Director of DIO Md Shamsuzzaman and Senior Information Officer of Press Information Department Abdul Munim addressed the discussion as focal persons saying the Bangladesh has attained remarkable success in various development indicators.
The government has achieved a number of successes in the power sector during the past six years. Power generation capacity more than doubled from 4,942 MW in 2009 to 11,265 MW currently, with around 68% of the population having access to electricity.
Editor of Daily Sonar Desh Akbarul Hassan Millat, Editor of Daily Sunshine Tasikul Alam Bakul and President of Rajshahi Press Club Anwarul Alam Fatik also spoke.
