SB officer murder: Partial argument in case heard

The Speedy Trial Tribunal-3 of Dhaka on Tuesday heard the partial argument in the murder case filed in connection with the death of Special Branch Police Inspector Mahfuzur Rahman and his wife Swapna Rahman.
After hearing the partial argument, Judge Sayed Ahmed of the tribunal fixed
November 4 for submission of further arguments. Oishee Rahman, the only daughter of the slain couple and also the prime accused in the case was brought to the court on the occasion. Her two friends Asaduzzaman Jony and Mizanur Rahman Rony were also present in the courtroom. Besides, a juvenile court of Dhaka has been conducting the trial of Khadiza Akhter Sumi, as she was under 16 when the incident occurred. She was a domestic help of the slain couple’s house. Of the four accused, Rony and Sumi have secured bail from the court.
According to the case statement, the decomposed bodies of the two deceased were found at their Chamelibagh residence in the capital on August 16, 2013. Later, their daughter Oishee surrendered to the police confessing her guilt in the murder. On August 24 of the same year, she made confessional statement in Dhaka CMM Court admitting her involvement in the killing.
Meanwhile, of the 49 witnesses, 39 testified in the case. On March 9 of last year, Detective Branch Inspector Md Abul Khair Matubbar submitted the charge of the case against the accused.
