Speakers at a discussion in the city urged the parents to make their girl children good human beings and skilled persons through education.
There is no other alternative to education to make the girl children skilled and qualified, they said this while speaking at the discussion at Abdul Karim Shahitya Bisharad Auditorium of Bangla Academy.
Room to Read Bangladesh and Directorate of Secondary and Higher Education (DSHE) organized the meeting as part the programme to observe International Girl Child Day.
Secretary of Women and Children Affairs Ministry Nasima Begum inaugurated the meeting as the chief guest with DSHE Director General Professor Mohammad Shamsul Huda was in the chair.
Department of Women Affairs Director General Kazi Rowshan Akther addressed the meeting as the special guest. DSHE Director Dr Mohammad Jahangir Hossain and Room to Read Bangladesh Country Director Rakhi Sarker, among others, also spoke.
