A six-month-old baby-daughter was sold by her parents in Rajshahi.
A childless woman from Gaibandha bought the baby for taka 12,000 only.
Later childless woman Jannatee has been taken into police custody along with the child from Rajshahi Railway area.
Meanwhile, the couple eloped the local area after selling their children.
After detained with child when she was questioned by the police, the woman said that she had bought the child from the Railway Colony slum for only Tk 12,000 as she was childless. One local Seema helped buy the child through Rokeya, a resident of Bhadra slum.
She claimed that the child’s father was addicted to drugs and did not pay the expenses of family properly. Besides, the mother’s income is little.
The officer-in-charge of the Railway Police Station said, we are investigating the matter.
However Jannati and Seema, including the child, have been kept in police custody, police said.
