FM Mehdi Hasan Parag of Leonine Chess Club emerged unbeaten champion in the Tangail International Rating Chess tournament held on Tuesday at the Bangabandhu Auditorium in Tangail Press Club, Tangail.
Parag earned 7 points out of 8 games to clinch the title. IM Abu Sufian Shakil of Dhaka Mohammedan Sporting Club became runner-up with 6.5 points.
Six players earned 6 points each. Their ties were broken by tie-breaking system. In tie-breaking system FM K Aminul Islam of Bangladesh Navy became 3rd, Abdullah Al-Saif of Golden Sporting Club became 4th, FM Mohammad Javed of Bangladesh Navy became 5th, FM Debaraj Chatterjee of Titas Club became 6th, Ikramul Haq Siam of Golden Sporting Club became 7th and S M Sharon of Bangladesh Navy became 8th position.
Six players earned 5.5 points each. Their positions are 9th-Avik Sarker of Basir Memorial, 10th-Mahtabuddin Ahmed of Bangladesh Navy, 11th-Md. Sharif Hossain of Bangladesh Navy, 12th-Sawkat Bin Osman, 13th-M Matiur Rahman Mamun of Pradip Sangah and 14th-Abhishek Sarkar of India.
