Police arrested Mamun Hossain, prime accused in the child Parag abduction case at Keraniganj in Dhaka, when he was trying to kidnap a Chinese businessman from the city’s Baridhara area on Wednesday night.
The victim Chinese national Yung Shee is a garment machineries businessman.
Atiqur Rahman, Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Cantonment Police Station said that a gang of abductors led by Mamun in guise of police tried to abduct the businessman. At that time, the house owner challenged them and informed it to police.
Police arrested Mamun from the spot but his other accomplices managed to flee the scene, the police official said.
Mamun confessed to the police in primary interrogation that he masterminded the kidnapping of baby Parag, the OC said.
