Chittagong Bureau :Customs Intelligence in Chittagong Port detained imported consignment of 100 tons of art papers in New Mooring container terminal on Sunday during physical inventory of the consignment and imported documents. The importer misusing the duty-free bond facilities, imported the art paper on commercial aims. Asstt. Director of Customs Intelligence Syed Mokaddes Hossain told the New Nation that Federal Corporation of Narayangonj imported 275 tons of art paper of 300-350 gram with bond facilties. But aimed at evading govt revenue, the imported imported art papers of 225 grams on specifically on commercial interests. After inventory of 4 containers, 100 tons papers detected and the ramining 175 tons lying in 7 other containers. The inventory is undergoing and final asscessment will be completed withing short time, customs sources said. As per commercial import of these consignment, the govt revenue comes to Tk.3 cr and the vested quarters trying to evade govt revenue through importing these papers under bond facilities. Informed quarters observed , a vested quarter tying to destroy the paper industry in the country through importing low grade paper products from abroad with evasion of govt revenue. Sources said after final investigations and enquiry, legal actions will be taken against the importer of the consignment.
