Papaya farming brings fortune to Naogaon farmer

A marginal farmer of Naogaon district has built his own fortune by farming papaya, a tropical sweet fruit and vegetable, on his land.
Saidur Rahman, 50, once a small trader of papaya, now turned into a rich man by farming the fruit on his 12 bighas of land at Kashimpur village under Raninagar upazila of the district.
He is now earning Taka 2-3 lakh annually as profit from papaya farming.
Saidur Rahman told BSS that his papaya is now exporting to foreign markets by meeting the local demand. At present at least 20 workers are working in his papaya farm.
SM Ghulam Sarwar, an agriculture official of Raninagar upazila, said Saidur Rahman’s hard working brought him fortune in his life. Now he became an ideal and economically solvent farmer of the upazila”.
The upazila agriculture office has provided all sports of cooperation to Saidur to boost production.
