The demand for men’s Panjabi and casual dresses is high in the city’s shopping malls ahead of the Eid-ul-Fitr, the largest festival of the Muslim, although the sale is not at expected level.
Shoppers said they have displayed various types of Panjabi and informal dresses like casual shirt, t-shirt and fatua considering the people’s choice amid the pandemic time.
Visiting different shopping malls in the city, this correspondent on Wednesday found that the shoppers, who are visiting the shopping malls, are buying the informal dresses amid the pandemic time.
Shahin Ahmed, President of the Bangladesh Fashion Entrepreneurs’ Association, said, “The sale is less than what we expected in normal time. However, it is good at the present context of the country.”
“Normally a good numbers of shoppers come to the markets after evening. But, we missed them this year due to the pandemic,” Shahin, also Chief Executive Officer of Anjans, told the New Nation.
He further said demands for men’s Panjabi, casual shirt, t-shirt and fotua are usually highly demanded ahead of any festival, especially Eid.
This year too, the demand of the informal is high, he added.
Considering the people’s demand, we have collected a lot of new design and style of Panjabi in our outlets, Shahin said.
People can buy Anajns’ brand Panjabi at Tk1200-4000, casual shirt at Tk650-1500 and t-shirt at Tk300-350 from any of our 24 outlets, he said.
Hopefully, the sales are likely to increase in coming days as the public transport is resuming from tomorrow (Thursday), he added.
About the health guidelines, he said, “Both the shoppers and the shopkeepers will have to aware about the health issue as the infection of the Covid-19 is increasing.”
However, Executive Magistrates are conducting drives in the markets to ensure the health guideline and it will be stronger in coming days, Shahin said.
Ashraful Alam, CEO of the Aarong, said that the demand for our men’s Panjabi is well established in the country as section of people must buy Panjabi ahead of the Eid festival.
“We have displayed around three hundred new style of Panjabi, casual shirt and t-shirt in our outlets considering the people’s choice,” he said.
It was possible to reduce the gathering in our shops, if it was possible to keep open our shops till midnight, he added.
Hadi S A Chowdhury, Head of Retail Operation of Yellow, said they collected around three hundred new style of panjabi in their outlets this year considering the customers’ demand.
“Normally, demand for the casual dresses has remained high ahead of any festival. This year also, most of the customers are buying casual dresses like Panjabi and casual shirt,” he said.
Sazzadur Rahman, Manager of Le Reve shop of the City’s police plaza shopping centre, said they collected a huge number of men’s panjabi in their shops considering the people’s demand.
Fitted, semi fitted, casual and exclusive men’s panjabi are the most famous collection this year, he said.
The price range is between Tk1700-3100, he added.
