A panic situation has been prevailing in the Sitakunda Upazila Sadar and poura areas centring the killing of 4 militants with encounter of law enforcers on Thursday . The school, colleges in the areas remained closed yesterday .
The shops and markets of Amirabad and Premtala in poura sadar also closed . In the operation of Operation Assault-16, four suspected militants have been killed by the special squad with encounter of the militants.The Operation Assault -16 was conducted by the law enforcers consists of SWAT, Counter terrorism unit , RAB and Police , sources said. The operation continued from early morning which declared ended at 10 am, sources said.
Earlier report of the law enforcers adds: Deputy Inspector General of Police, Chittagong Range Md.Shafiqul Islam declared ending of Operation Assault -16 and said there are no militants inside the Chayanir Bhaban of Sitakunda poura area in chittagong.He said some explosives are scatteredly lying in Chayanir premises and the law enforcers are working for safety of the building. He said there is an unexploded hand bomb lying in roof of the building and the explosive team is working for defusing the bomb. DIG Md. Shafiqul Islam declared ending of the operation at 10 am in the morning on Thursday.
