Executive Magistrate and Divisional Estate Officer of Paksey Division of the Western Railway have issued a second notice to evict the illegal inhabitants on Railway land in Saidpur town.
The second phase of issuing notice and announcing the day of annihilation has created a panic among the residents of the Railway land. The entire Saidpur has turned into town of panic.
According to Railway sources, Saidpur Railway has 800 acres of land. Of these, a large number of people have been living beside the railway land. Among them are legal and illegal residents and installations. Earlier, the Railway Land Department issued a public notice for the first time on April 7 to evict the illegal inhabitants on the railway land. According to that notification, they have made an updated list of legal and illegal constructions. At that time, the surveyed area was identified by red ink. About 4 months after this, the second issue of public notice has been issued. At the same time, the date and name of the eviction area are mentioned. Fear and panic are spreading throughout the town on this eviction campaign.
In the second public release issued by Pakshi Divisional Real Estate Officer of the Railway ,it has been mentioned that the eviction activities will be conducted on September 29 and 30. It has also been mentioned that eviction will be operated with the exception of the land of Stranded Pakistani Camps and the disputed lands with the Saidpur Municipality. However, those establishments who have been granted valid licenses and are suing for ownership of the Railway land are being directed to seek the opinion of the Department of Real Estate by September 28. The notice states that all illegal installations will be removed.
As a result, the eviction operation has become the talk of the town. In the meantime, frequent rally, meeting, discussion and press conference are going on to stop the eviction, and anti-eviction organisations have been preparing for the abolition movement.
An organisation of the residents , residing on the Railway land in the name of “Adhikar”, actively and strongly standing against the Eviction Operation which is going to be continued on 29th and 30th September in Saidpur. They have already placed a memorandum to the honorable Prime Minister through Deputy Commissioner of Nilphamari.
