The authorities of Shaheed Ziaur Rahman Medical College Hospital (SZMCH) on Saturday formed a three-member committee to investigate the attack on the relatives of a patient by interns over a trifling matter.
SZMCH deputy director Nirmalendu Chowdhury said the three-member committee, headed by Dr Kamrul Ahsan, assistant director of the hospital, has been asked to submit its report within three working days.
Rahela Bewa, 75, wife of late Bazlur Rashid of Puranapoil village in
Sadar upazila of Joypurhat, was admitted to the female ward of the SZMCH medicine department on October 24.
The interns of the hospital allegedly assaulted her son Gaziur Rahman, 45, and grandson Rumman Hossain Shanto, 25, as they came to visit her around on Thursday as Shanto called an intern ‘apa’ while enquiring about the condition of his grandmother, according to the victims.
