BSS, Dhaka :
State Minister for Information and Communication Technology Junaid Ahmed Palak on Sunday said that the birthday of Bangabandhu’s youngest son Sheikh Russell needs to be declared a national day.
The state minister said this while addressing a discussion meeting on the occasion of the 56th birth anniversary of Shaheed Sheikh Russell organized by ‘Sheikh Russell National Children and Adolescent Council’ at Bangabandhu International Conference Center in Agargaon on Sunday, said a press release.
“The ICT department has set up 8,000 Sheikh Russell Digital Labs where children are educated in technical education and are prepared for the future world, across Bangladesh under the plan of Sajeeb Wazed, the grandson of Bangabandhu, the worthy son of Hon’ble Prime Minister,” the state minister said.
“Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina has approved the plan for setting up of 5,000 more Sheikh Russell Digital Computer Labs and ‘Schools of the Future’ in 300 schools across the country”, he added.
Palak said Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman enacted the Child Rights Act for the future citizens of a newly independent war-torn Bangladesh and made education unpaid to ensure the education of every child as envisaged in the constitution.
He mentioned that Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, the worthy daughter of Bangabandhu, has been making continuous efforts to build a safe, modern and humane Bangladesh for every child by embracing her father’s philosophy, said the release.
Later, he distributed laptops among some students.
