Pakistani held with Indian Rs 1.7 cr at HSIA

The Customs Inteilgence Department in a drive seized huge Indian rupees worth around Tk 1.17 crore and arrested a foreign national from the city’s Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport (HSIA) on Thursday afternoon. The arrested man has been identified as Mohammad Selim from Pakistan, Customs Officials said.
Customs Intelligence and Investigation Department’s Joint Commissioner Quazi Mohammad Ziauddin said that Selim arrived at HSIA
from Karachi by a flight of Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) at about 12.45pm. The Indian currency was found in his luggage. He hid it a small tea table.
He is being interrogated in this connection, the Customs Official said.
Legal actions would be taken against Selim, he said.
