Customs officials at Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport detained a Pakistani national along with 1 crore Indian rupees on Thursday evening.
The arrestee was identified as Rehan Ali, 28, who came to Dhaka by an Emirates Airlines flight from Dubai.
When Rehan Ali was trying to get out of the airport through the green channel, customs officials challenged him at about 7pm on suspicion, said Joint Commissioner (Customs) Md Ziauddin.
The existence of foreign currency was detected after scanning a paper carton being carried by him, the Joint Commissioner said, adding that customs officials recovered Indian currency worth 1 crore rupees kept inside the carton.
