Pakistani among 6 held with fake currency notes in city

Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) in a drive arrested six members of an international human trafficking and fake currency syndicate, including a Pakistani national, along with huge fake currency notes from different parts of the city’s Uttara areas on Thursday night. The arrestees were identified as Pakistani national Abdullah alias Selim, 42, Mohammad Jahangir, 45, Abdul Khalek, 55, Mohammad Kamrul Islam, 28, Abu Sufian, 48 and Mamunur Rashid 45. Tipped off, a team of Rab conducted a drive in the airport area at Uttara around 8pm and arrested Abdullah, Khalek and Kamrul. They also recovered 70 lakh Indian rupees, 9000 US dollars, 21 fake Pakistani passports, 7 Bangladeshi passports and fake stamps of different embassies. Gleaning information from the arrestees, the elite force members conducted another drive in the area and arrested three others. In a press briefing, Commander Mufti Mahmud Khan, director (Media) of Rab headquarters, said the arrestees are the members of international human trafficking and fake currency syndicate gang. — Dhaka, Dec 4 (UNB)
