Pakistan Women clinch ODI series

Pakistan National Women’s Cricket team clinched the ODI series 2-0 when they defeated Bangladesh National Women’s Cricket team by six wickets in the 2nd ODI match at the Southend Club Cricket Stadium in Karachi on Tuesday.
Earlier, Pakistan National Women’s Cricket team beat Bangladesh National Women’s Cricket team by 20 runs in the first ODI match at the same venue on October 4.
Opting to bat first, Bangladesh Women scored 123 for the loss of nine wickets in the stipulated 50 overs.
In reply, Pakistan Women romped home in 38.3 overs making 124 for the loss of four wickets.
Bangladesh Women could build only one notable partnership. Nigar Sultana and Ritu Moni put on together 47 runs for the eighth wicket stand before Ritu Moni was trapped leg before wicket by Anam Amin when Bangladesh’s score was 114 for the loss of eight wickets.
Opener Ayasha Rahman was the most successful run getter for Bangladesh Women. She made a respectable 39 from 56 balls. She hit six fours before she was caught by Bismah Maroof off Anam Amin.
Nigar Sultana remained undefeated with 30. Her 109-ball patient innings was decorated with two fours while Ritu Moni hit a polished 28 from 48 balls featuring three fours.
Anam Amin of Pakistan Women bowled extremely well and finished her superb spell as 10-5-7-4. Anam Amin was adjudged the Player of the Series for her match-winning bowling.
Asmavia Iqbal grabbed three wickets at the cost of 28 runs while Sania Khan took one wicket for 24 runs.
Later, Pakistan Women faced an early batting jolt as their opener Javeria Khan was caught by Rumana Ahmed off Nahida Akter when Pakistan’s score was 20 for the loss one wicket.
Then one-down Bismah Maroof and opener Marina Iqbal added together 43 runs for the second wicket stand before Marina Iqbal was run out by Salma Khatun when Pakistan’s total was 63 for the loss of two wickets.
After dismissal of Marina Iqbal, Bismah Maroof and Nain Abidi contributed 36 runs for the third wicket partnership before Bismah Maroof was caught by Jahanara Alam off Rumana Ahmed when Pakistan’s score was 99 for the loss of three wickets.
In-form Bismah Maroof was the day’s most successful run maker. She notched up a superb 41 from 66 balls including seven fours while Marina Iqbal also shone with the willow making 31 from 67 balls with two fours.
Nain Abidi scored 22 off 41 balls including two fours before she was stumped out by wicketkeeper Shamima Sultana off Nahida Akter when Pakistan’s total was 109 for the loss of four wickets.
After dismissal of Nain Abidi, Sana Mir and Aliya Riaz helped their team to complete their series win.
Sana Mir remained undefeated with 12 while Aliya Riaz remained unbeaten with seven.
Nahida Akter bagged a pair of wickets instead of 22 runs while Rumana Ahmed took one wicket for 13 runs.
