Pakistan made 315 for the loss of nine wickets in the allotted 50 overs against Bangladesh in their match of the ICC World Cup Cricket at the Lord’s in London on Friday.
Mustafizur Rahman played the key role to
restrict Pakistan from a massive total. He captured five wickets at the cost of 75 runs. He got a good support from Mohammad Saifuddin, who claimed three wickets instead of 77 runs. Pacer Mustafizur Rahman created a new record of capturing back-to-back five wickets in a single World Cup and thereby crossed the record of taking 100 wickets in the One Day Internationals and enlisted his name on the Lord’s Honours Board.
Mustafizur Rahman plucked five wickets against India on July 2.
Pakistan had a poor start as opener Fakhar Zaman (13) was caught at the point by Mehidy Hasan Miraz off Mohammad Saifuddin when Pakistan’s total was 23.
Then opener Imam-ul-Haq and one-down Babar Azam repaired the damage adding together 157 runs for the second wicket partnership before Babar Azam was trapped leg before wicket by Mohammad Saifuddin when Pakistan’s score was 180 for the loss of two wickets.
Babar was a victim of nervous nineties. He was deprived from a ton for just four runs.
Babar hit a superb 96. His 98-ball innings was laced with 11 shots across the ropes. It was Babar’s 15th ODI half-century.
After Babar’s dismissal, Imam-ul-Haq and Mohammad Hafeez added together 66 runs in the third wicket stand before Imam was hit wicket by a delivery of Mustafizur Rahman when Pakistan’s score was 246 for the loss of three wickets.
Imam hit a run-a-ball 100 including seven fours. It was Imam’s seventh ODI century.
Then Mehidy Hasan Miraz struck as Mohammad Hafeez (27) was caught at the deep square leg by Shakib Al Hasan off Miraz when Pakistan’s score was 248 for the loss of four wickets.
Mustafizur Rahman again got success as Haris Sohel ( 6) was caught at the deep extra cover by Soumya Sarkar off the left-arm pacer when Pakistan’s total was 255 for the loss of five wickets.
