Pakistan emerge group champion beating Sri Lanka

Pakistan emerged group champion with all-win record after a 23-run win over Sri Lanka in their 3rd and last Group-B match of the ICC Under-19 Cricket World Cup at Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium in Mirpur on Wednesday.
Pakistan will face West Indies in the quarterfinal at Khan Saheb Osman Ali Stadium in Fatullah on February 8 while Sri Lanka to meet England in another quarterfinal match at Sher-e-Bangla National Stadium in Mirpur on February 7.
Pakistan collected six points form three matches. Pakistan, earlier, confirmed their quarterfinal berth beating Afghanistan and Canada by 6-wicket and 7-wicket respectively.
Despite the day’s loss Sri Lanka will also remain in the race as they also confirmed their super league stage beating Canada and Afghanistan by 196-run and by 33-run respectively.
On Wednesday’s match, replying 212, Sri Lanka finished the innings at 189 for all in 46.4 overs.
Kamindu Mendis (68 off 104b 5×4) and Vishad de Silva (46 off 71b, 5×4) were the notable scorers for Sri Lanka.
Shadab Khan bagged three wickets for 31 runs in 8.4 overs while Ahmad Shafiq, Hasan Mohsin and Sameen Gul took two wickets each for 23, 28 and 29 runs.
Sent in to bat first, Pakistan scored 212 runs for all out in 48.4 overs with Hasan Mohsin topscoring run-a-ball 86 including eight boundaries and one six.
Apart from his individual score, Mohsin pairing with Salman Fayyaz contributed 84runs in 19.4 overs. The 5th pair carried the team total to 157/5 in 40.2 overs from 96/4 in 26.3 overs.
Fayyaz managed 33 off 49 balls with three boundaries before he was trapped lbw by PWH de Silva.
Mohsin who was adjudged man of the match, was bowled out by Lankan skipper Charith Asalanka at team’s 9-211/9 in 48.1 overs.
Wanidu de Silva, Thilan Nimesh and Damitha Silva took two wickets each for 30, 38 and 41 runs.
