Farrukh Ahmad is a great poet of Bengali literature in the post-Nazrul era. A humanist of multi dimensions, Farrukh is regarded as the poet of Islamic rejuvenation because many of his poems spring from that fountain. His works included juvenile literature. He will be remembered for his best creativity. He has composed many rhymes on birds for children. His ‘Pakhir Basha’ (Nest) is a highly praised one and this book earned laurels internationally. It was recognised as a great contribution by the UNESCO Award.
It was first published in 1965 by Bangla Academy. The present publication under discussion is from the Kalantor Prokashoni, Mohammadpur, Dhaka.
The juvenile works of Farrukh Ahmad published since 1965 to 2004 are : Pakhir Basha (1965), Horofer Chhora (1968), Notun Lekha (1969) Chhorar Asor (1970). Chiriakhana (1980) Kissa Kahini (1984) Fuler Jolsa (1985) Sat Dakat O Hatemtayee (2004).
The contents of ‘Pakhir Basha’ include Nest : nest, nest of the dove, heron, owl, bank moyna, baya weaver, sparrow.
Rejoice : rejoice, joyous chorus, hurdle on way to fair, soft and hot discussion, the activities of the bat, the story of the grandfather.
Various kinds of birds : Various kinds of birds, common tailor, woodpecker, kinsman bird, parakaeet, black dorongo, kingfisher, winterbird.
Varities : The song the storm, rain, end of rainy season, autumn, winter, falgoon, chaitra.
The song of fairytale : The princess, the prince.

Distinguished juvenile litterateur Ali Imam in his ‘Pakhir Bashar Kobi : Farrukh Ahmad (Farrukh Ahmad : The poet of Nest) comments: “In fact, this love and affection was a surprising great treasure in the mind of Farrukh Ahmad. He has observed the lives around him with love and he has written whole through his life against everything bad, ugly…….”
In the conclusion he said, “Farrukh Ahmad is such a poet, for whom any nation can feel proud of. Farrukh Ahmad is a poet, who has presented the nature around us with an astonishing perfection in poems. He had friendship with all. Now we will remember this poet whenever we will see bird’s nest”.
We are of the same opinion about the poet as Ali Imam : “We will go in search of nest unitedly” to have a glance on the various kinds of birds with various shape and colours and the green nature in which they make their abodes.
The cover and illustrations by pioneer artist Kazi Abul Kasem reflect the theme and contents.
The book has been dedicated by the poet to the new comers in this world.
The book has already passed about five decades of journey with the readers-the children and the matured.
